Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, has positioned himself differently from other Strip executives by expressing a neutral view on prediction markets, which have faced pushback from Nevada gaming regulators. During a roundtable at the Global Gaming Expo, he stated, “We don’t take a political position on prediction markets because we don’t have skin in the game.”
Billings acknowledged the broad reach of online gambling as beneficial for Las Vegas, while also noting his company has not experienced direct effects from prediction markets. In contrast, peers like Caesars CEO Tom Reeg emphasized the need for regulation, recalling past challenges with daily fantasy sports. MGM’s Bill Hornbuckle criticized attempts to operate prediction markets in states opposed to gambling. Overall, Billings compared recent discussions on prediction markets to historical opposition to California tribal casinos, highlighting the unpredictability and potential long-term ramifications for the industry.
