Las Vegas will celebrate its 35th annual Disability Awareness Day on Saturday, October 10, providing a space for families, caregivers, and people with disabilities to access support, information, and entertainment. Taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, the event is organized by the Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living in partnership with the city and various local disability organizations.
This year’s event coincides with National Disability Employment Awareness Month and aims to connect attendees of all ages with services to enhance daily living. Over 30 organizations are anticipated to participate, offering insights into various topics such as employment opportunities, legal services, independent living, and assistive technology. A variety of other resources will also be available, including information about adaptive recreation and assisted living services.
Guests can expect live entertainment, free door prizes, and complimentary lunches for the first 250 attendees. Costumes are encouraged as prizes will be awarded for the best outfits. Admission is free, but parking is limited, so early arrival is suggested. For more information, contact 702-889-4216 or visit sncil.org.
