LVMPD’s Drone Aids in Locating 89-Year-Old Missing Man in Desert

An 89-year-old man who went missing in the Las Vegas desert was successfully located by a drone operated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) after earlier searches yielded no results. The man was reported missing on May 1st, and ground search teams were unable to find him before the drone was deployed.

Utilizing drone technology, the pilot spotted the man lying on the desert floor from above and promptly directed ground officers to his precise location. Officers attended to him until medical personnel could arrive. While details about the man’s condition remain sparse, the incident underscores the effective use of drones for search and rescue operations, demonstrating their capability to cover more area quickly compared to foot searches.
