Clarification on Nicole Cannizzaro’s Alleged $26 Million Funding to Her Husband’s Client

Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro (D-Las Vegas), the Democratic nominee for attorney general, has not allocated $26 million to a client of her husband, Nathan Ring, who is an attorney representing AFSCME.

Did Nicole Cannizzaro give $26 million in taxpayer dollars to her husband's client?

Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro (D-Las Vegas), the Democratic nominee for attorney general, has not allocated $26 million to a client of her husband, Nathan Ring, who is an attorney representing AFSCME.

This assertion has emerged from a new website associated with the Republican Attorneys General Association and pertains to a legislative bill sponsored by Cannizzaro in 2023. This bill aimed to provide approximately $25 million in wage increases for state worker unions, including the Nevada Police Union and AFSCME Local 4041.

However, the bill was vetoed by Governor Joe Lombardo (R) and therefore did not come into effect. The associated funding was left unappropriated as it was addressed after the legislative session ended. A lawsuit from AFSCME, represented by Ring, seeking to enforce the funding provision was unsuccessful.
