The American Cancer Society and the Las Vegas Raiders are actively promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month in southern Nevada. Following the cancellation of this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk due to weather, the two organizations hosted the Tackle Cancer event on Tuesday, October 13, at the West Las Vegas Library.
Originally scheduled for October 11 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the walk was meant to celebrate its 27th year. Instead, the Tackle Cancer event commenced with a ceremony at 2:30 p.m., honoring local breast cancer survivors. The community gathering, open to the public from 3 to 5 p.m., spotlighted Maura Bivens, the 2026 honoree, who has inspired many through her journey with triple-negative metastatic breast cancer.
